What Audio Fastlane is

Audio Fastlane is an app for your phone that turns exam study into something you can listen to. Each title is a full audiobook written around the syllabus for a real ticket or certificate: COLREGs, ship stability, navigation, safety and more. A narrator explains each topic the way a good instructor would, with examples from real ships and real incidents.

Listening is only the start. While a chapter plays, you can read the words on screen, see the idea drawn out as a diagram, and then test yourself with questions written in the style of the exam. It works for yacht, merchant navy, and fishing and workboat routes, and for the FAA private pilot certificate.

How it works

  1. Pick your route. Yacht, Merchant Navy, or Fishing and Workboat. The app puts the books for your ticket first.
  2. Listen whenever your hands are busy. On watch, in the car, at the gym. It plays with the screen off, and remembers exactly where you stopped.
  3. Read and look when you can. Follow the text word by word, and flick through the visual recaps to see each rule drawn out.
  4. Test yourself. Answer the questions at the end of each chapter, then take mixed exams across your route. The app keeps track of the ones you get wrong.

What is inside

  • Listen. Plays in the background with lock-screen controls. Change speed from 0.5x to 2x and pick up exactly where you left off. Sleep timer and car mode included.
  • Read along. The chapter text follows the audio, with the spoken word highlighted. Tap any word to jump the audio there.
  • Meanings on tap. Press and hold a technical term to see what it means in plain English.
  • Visual recaps. On most titles, short animated diagram cards, one idea per card.
  • Exam-style questions. Questions on each chapter, mixed exams across your route, and practice on the ones you keep getting wrong.
  • Downloads. Download a chapter or a whole book to listen with no signal.
  • Five titles free. Some titles are free for good, with no account needed, so you can see how it works before your trial.

Questions

How do I get it on my phone?

After you start your trial, this page shows a button for the App Store or Google Play, then a button that opens the app and unlocks your subscription. We also email you the same unlock link. The link works once and lasts for an hour; if it runs out, a fresh one is emailed to you.

Can I cancel?

Yes. Every email we send about your subscription contains a link to your customer portal, where you can cancel, update your payment method and download receipts.

Is my payment secure?

Yes. Payment is handled by Stripe, and your card details never touch our own servers.

Which books are included?

Everything in the library. The maritime side covers yacht, merchant navy, and fishing and workboat tickets, and new titles are included as they are added. The aviation side, which covers the FAA private pilot certificate, is in the same subscription. Five titles are free in the app for good.
